release time: 2023年10月26日 13:30

NaaS (NASDAQ: NAAS) lately announced its initiation into United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), giving a pledge of support to the Ten Principles of the UNGC. This is an international recognition of the company's sustainability practice and a milestone in ESG development after NaaS joined Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) earlier in this August. SBTi is a partnership between World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and UNGC.

Established in 2000, UNGC is a pioneer of ESG and the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. More than 23,000 companies and organizations from nearly 170 countries worldwide are already signatories of the UNGC, including over 800 Chinese companies, e.g., CATL, SUNGROW and other new energy industry leaders.

As a NEV charging service provider, NaaS provides one-stop services covering the whole industrial chain, including charging station siting consultation, software and hardware procurement, EPC, operation and maintenance, energy storage, PV projects, virtual power plants, and autonomous charging robot. As of June 30, 2023, NaaS had connected 652,000 chargers, covering 62,000 charging stations; the charging volume in the first half of 2023 was 2.25 billion kWh, representing 21.2% of the public charging volume in China.

In response to climate change, NaaS has put into practice ESG ideas. With green sources, stations and uses, the company enables green and low-carbon operation in all sectors of charging service, while setting goals of cutting carbon emissions, with a view to achieving carbon neutrality in operation by 2028. In the first half of 2023, NaaS reduced 1.463 million tons of carbon emissions, up 109% from a year earlier (700,400 tons). In the meantime, NaaS has developed and promoted an inclusive carbon innovation mechanism. By teaming up with strategic partner Kuaidian, the company motivates users to engage in cutting carbon emissions by awarding carbon credits. By the end of 2022, the service has garnered more than 463,000 EV users.

With a focus on green and low-carbon development, NaaS has been advancing integrated PV-storage-charging layout. In August, NaaS acquired Sinopower Holding (Hong Kong) Co., Limited (hereinafter referred to as Sinopower), the largest PV energy asset operator in Hong Kong, indicating NaaS has entered Hong Kong's distributed solar power station construction and operation and EV charging service market. In September, NaaS secured a 200-million-yuan energy storage order. Covering over 380 charging stations, the order boasts an energy distribution and storage capacity of 130.088MWh, and integrates intelligent site selection, supervision & commissioning, and energy management platform. NaaS also won the bid for the Anji Integrated PV-storage-charging-swapping Project located at Anshan Station. In addition to providing one-stop "PV-storage-charging-swapping" solutions, NaaS is developing an integrated energy management platform and charging management system and providing other services such as whole-process construction management, smart operation and maintenance, setting a world paradigm of battery charging and swapping service for heavy trucks.

In last November, Dai Zhen, Founder and CEO of NewLink and Chairman of NaaS, and Wang Yang, Founder and CEO of NaaS, shed light on green and low-carbon practice in transport energy at the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference. Well poised for the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference slated to take place in Dubai later in December, NaaS will proceed to share its creative practice in green and low-carbon transformation.

For NaaS, it's a milestone to join the UNGC and promote implementation of ESG strategy. By actively participating in international organizations and setting concrete ESG targets, NaaS will further cement its corporate sustainability strategy and delve into ways of use of green energy and reduction of carbon emissions. Leveraging inventive technologies, products and models, the company serves to improve the stability and efficiency of global transport energy network and “Empower the World with Green Energy”.
